This might be a random event here at the the Outsider but when a cover catches my eye it'll probably pop up here.
Today it's the turn of the eagerly awaited sequel to Daughter Of Smoke And Bone, Days Of Blood And Starlight.
I have this version of Daughter
I wanted the US cover below but for once sense prevailed and I didn't buy a copy of book I'd already been given.
However, now I've seen the cover reveals for Days Of Blood And Starlight I think I'm going to have to cave and order the US version of both.
This is the UK release and I have to say, I'm not a fan... I don't know why but there's just something I don't like. On the other hand, I love the US cover below.
I think it's stunning, it could possibly be because I have a thing about masks, painted or otherwise, but I also think it looks like the sequel to the first book. The UK covers just don't mesh together in my opinion. I've pre-ordered the US version of Days Of Blood And Starlight, now I need to donate my copy to my sister (I'm sure she'll love it) and track down a reasonably priced US hardcover edition of Daughter Of Smoke And Bone.
What do you think? Am I too fussy?

I like both sets of covers but I don't think the UK covers work together as a set. If I was buying Daughter Of Smoke And Bone I would buy the US cover as I think it's really awesome.

Personally I prefer the UK Cover in both cases, but I think that's primarily because I'm not comfortable about reading YA and with the UK covers it's not obvious!
ReplyDeleteI like the 2nd cover in both cases.
