In 2014 I signed up for four year long challenges. Except for my annual Goodreads challenge (which I had to adjust - downwards...) I have failed miserably. I think it was the trying to keep track of everything that tripped me up in the end and quite frankly it got to the point where I could not be bothered, thanks mainly to being ill and away from home far more than usual!
In 2015 I intend to be far more organized and up to date with blog/book stuff. In view of that fact I'm signing up for four challenges again. The first is the Goodreads annual challenge but can't kick that one off until January 1.
I expect I'll be setting this one somewhere around 300, less than previous years but up on what I achieved in 2014 hopefully!
Challenge 2 is a repeat, the
TBR challenge hosted by Evie at Bookish. I completely lost track of what I was reading from my shelves this year as I was spectacularly bad at updating my book journal but having had a quick look it would appear that maybe a third of the books I read in 2014 were on my shelves. I'm going for the
50+ Married With Children level as in 2015 I'm determined to read even more of the books I already own. I'm also going to start a new book journal as I started the one I'm using now at the beginning of 2013 and I'm bored with it!
Challenge 3 is definitely a challenge tailor made for me. Every time I look at my Netgalley percentage I cringe and carry on requesting! It's like an illness... I'm slightly better on Edelweiss but matters aren't helped when you request a book and get approved for it 30 seconds later. Thanks to this well known illness I have enough books to keep me going for a while so fingers crossed this challenge helps me get my act together :) I'm going to start off going for
Gold Level - 50 books, I can always go up a level if I find myself actually reading in 2015.
Challenge 4 is the Fairytale Challenge. This is the one challenge I really wanted to finish this year, between my never ending obsession with fairy tales
and the number of books I own it should have been a breeze. Somehow, it wasn't... This might be the challenge I start working towards first, I have so many fairy tale books I want to read right now so I might as well make them count! I'm going for
Wicked fairy Godmother level - 21 to 25 books but I may go up to Bluebeard (26 books+) depending on how the year goes.
And last but not least, a late entry as challenge number 4, the British Books Challenge hosted by Michelle @
Fluttering Butterflies. I almost did this last year but somehow never got round to it. This year I'm going for it, mainly because I'm really curious to see just how many British authors I read in relation to the amount of books I read.
Books will include The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick, A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas and The Dreamsnatcher by Abi Elphinstone.
Wish me luck and if you want to take part in any of the challenges just click the pic to take you to the sign-up page.
