Top Ten Tuesday #96 - Authors I've Read The Most Books From

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Thirteen Authors I've Read The Most Books From

This could be a strange list as, if I follow the list on Goodreads, it will have authors on that I haven't read for years but because they are so prolific I've read dozens of books by them! However if I skip a few of them there are far more recent authors ie. from the last decade...

Read 40 or more books

Stephen King
I started reading King's books when I was ten so I'm actually surprised this isn't higher!

Terry Pratchett
Another author I started reading early and it's high because of the wonderful Discworld books.

Read 30 or more

J D Robb
There's a theme coming. Finding a series and binge reading all of the available books. As is the case with the In Death books!

Read 20 or more

Laurell K Hamilton
Yes, I read the Anita Blake books. And then I started the Merry Gentry books...

Read 10 or more

Charlaine Harris
Thanks to Sookie, Lily Bard and Aurora Teagarden!

Raymond E Feist
I read Faerie Tale before I plunged into the Riftwar Saga (and the rest...)

Rachel Caine
Morganville Vampires, need I say more?

Jim Butcher
The Dresden Files, Codex Alera and coming to a bookcase near you soon, the Cinder Spires!

Diana Wynne Jones
Howl, the Chrestomanci series, so many great books...

Neil Gaiman
Because I have read all the books...

Juliet Marillier
Once you've read one Juliet Marillier book you have to read them all!

Charles de Lint
Love, love, love his writing! One day I'll get round to reading everything he's published instead of about half.

Sara Douglass
If you haven't read anything by Sara Douglass then you should, especially if you love epic fantasy. Sadly, she passed away 4 years ago so no more new books.

Top Ten Tuesday #88 - Authors I REALLY Want To Meet!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Nine Authors I REALLY Want To Meet

I've been extremely lucky in my career as a bookseller to meet lots of amazing authors - Terry Pratchett, Patrick Rothfuss, Joe Hill, Raymond E Feist, Jasper Fforde, Sarah Pinborough, Rainbow Rowell, Sarah J Maas, Jo Walton... I've also been lucky enough to go to some amazing events so this list probably isn't anywhere near as long as it could have been! There are also people I've met that I wouldn't have gone out of my way to do so. Bill Clinton anyone? Noel Edmonds? Here are the authors that I would do just about anything to meet, and I mean anything - except maybe get on a plane! Frances Hardinge shouldn't really be on this list as I saw her at YALC last year but thanks to being on the verge of fainting thanks to the insane heat I had to leave before the end of the panel she was on so missed out on the signing. This year? There will be nothing in my way, nothing...

Top Ten Tuesday #87 - Top Ten ALL TIME Favorite Authors!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Twelve Fifteen ALL TIME Favorite Authors

When I saw that the all-time favorite authors were this week's topic I snorted! Because who's going to be able to stick to ten? Well, me it would seem... Actually, not me! Have added another three authors before even getting started. And I know I'm going to kick myself when I see other people's lists and think of a hundred more I could have added. Anyway, here's fifteen of my favorite authors... Oh, and this list doesn't include people like Jasper Fforde, Alan Garner, Tolkien, L M Montgomery, Dickens, Hardy, Austen, and Bronte. It also doesn't include Patrick Rothfuss, Marcus Sedgwick, Diana Wynne Jones or George R R Martin because I think they are far too obvious (to me anyway) to be mentioned. And I can still think of at least another ten authors on top of those I would consider all-time favorites.

Top Ten Tuesday #85 - Books From My Childhood That I Would Love To Revisit

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Thirteen Books From My Childhood That I Would Love To Revisit

What a great topic! This one really made me think but I suspect if any of you are a regular reader of the Outsider then you'll have heard a lot of these books mentioned over the years. These are all firm favorites and are books read before my teen years. If I included teen books we'd be here all week. Having listed all these titles I'm now really in the mood for a massive re-read so I might have to find time to squeeze them in. Maybe I'll dedicate a month to doing just that in the summer, always a good time for easy reading when the weather is hot/warm/still feels like winter...

These are all standalone books or the first in the series. if it's a series I probably loved every single book as you tend to do when you're a child! Also note my amazing inability to count to ten! I'm amazed I stopped at thirteen as I could have kept going forever...

The Belgariad

'Salem's Lot

Tales of Alderley

The Owl Service

The Dark Is Rising Sequence

The Hobbit

Little Women

Matilda

When Marnie Was There

Jane Eyre

The Earthsea Cycle

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland

Anne of Green Gables

Top Ten Tuesday #70 - Books & Movies For Getting In The Halloween Spirit

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Books/Movies To Read Or Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit

I love Halloween! I love scary movies, horror novels and things that go bump in the night! I blame this entirely on my mama who didn't realize that my sister and I would sneak downstairs to watch horror movies in the middle of the night, I also started reading Stephen King novels at a very early age because of wanting to read something really scary. This is a mix of books and movies which I try to read or watch around this time of year along with a couple of new things that are new.

Stephen King's IT

The Amityville Horror

Hocus Pocus

The Omen

Something Wicked This Way Comes

The Woman In Black

An English Ghost Story

Horrorstor
The Birds

Top Ten Authors I Own The Most Books From

This was difficult! It seems that I have rather a lot of authors whose books I own in large quantities as I have a habit of buying entire back catalogues once I've decided I like an author. It has also made me realize just how many books by my favorite authors I'm missing, I'm resisting the urge to go crazy and buy them all!

This is my top ten, I could have easily made it a top twenty...
