Bookmarked... #20

The return of the (mostly) weekly post letting you all know what I'm reading and have lined up for the week! It's my own version of Sheila at Book Journey's It's Monday What Are You Reading (now hosted by Kathryn at Book Date) and I have her permission to rename it for my own nefarious reasons...

I am ever hopeful that I will get these Bookmarked... posts out on a slightly more regular basis. Life however has a habit of getting in the way of both reading and blogging. I thought I had a whole 10 days to catch up on reading, writing some reviews(!) and catching up on comments and blogs but instead I've got tomorrow at home and then I'm off again! Anyway, this is what I've finished recently and what I've got bookmarks stuck in currently.

Finished

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21329.Fables_Vol_3

Continuing to love Fables! The fact that they count towards my Fairy Tale challenge is nothing to do with it!

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21325.Fables_Vol_4

In fact, I'm kicking myself for taking so long to start reading them. Thankfully the library seem to have most of the series so I shall only have to beg/borrow/steal the last 2!!!

Rat Queens! Let me count the ways! I adored Rat Queens and was extremely peeved to discover the library didn't have any more...

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25950844-dead-secret?ac=1&from_search=true

A decent thriller about a woman in prison for killing her husband but is he really dead? A quick read, finished this in about 3 hours and enjoyed it.

I'd heard lots of good things about Sarah Mlynowski so thought it was about time I checked her out. To be honest I wasn't hugely impressed but I will get the sequel, Think Twice, because I want to know what happens.

The Girl Of Ink And Stars was fantastic, and the illustrations only made it better! Great YA fantasy from a debut author...

Currently Reading

Absolutely loving this, borrowed from the library but definitely buying a copy!

Another one where I'm so annoyed that I took so long to get round to reading it...

Rereading before I read In Ashes Lie again and loving the stunning new covers from Titan!

Top Ten Tuesday #107 - Characters Who Irritate Me!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous girls cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Nine Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don't Get or Ten Characters I LOVE But Others Seem To Dislike

I've adjusted it slightly and gone with characters who irritate me! It doesn't mean I don't like them, although in some cases I really don't, *cough* Bella Swan *cough* but these particular characters get on my nerves without even trying...

Top Ten Tuesday #97 - Auto-Buy Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Of Your Auto-Buy Authors

I managed to stick to ten authors this week as my list turned out to be quite selective, I'm absolutely certain that there are no surprises for any regular Bookish visitors. I'm sure my list of auto-buy authors used to be huge, if I saw they had a book coming out I ordered it. I have obviously learnt how to restrain myself though!

What authors are on your list?

Top Ten Tuesday #90 - Books I Plan To Have In My Book Bag On Vacation!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Books I Plan To Have In My Beach Bag This Summer

I've changed this slightly as I'm on vacation right now, hopefully with a bag of really great books, some great weather and getting some quality reading time in! This is pretty much what I'm going to try and squeeze in my bag, whether I get to read them all is another matter! I've picked a mix of new and old with a few re-reads thrown in and a couple of titles to finish off too.

Adult Fiction To Look Forward To In 2015

These is just a selection of some of the adult fiction I can't wait to get my hands on this year. I want to try and read more this year, I barely read any adult fantasy last year which is normally my most popular genre. The last couple of titles are wishful thinking, who knows when they actually may appear but I know 2015 is the year I would love them to!

Top Ten Tuesday #28 - Favorite Bookish Names

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely people at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Character Names I Love

Loved this topic! I'm always making notes about names that are gorgeous, especially if they're in some of my favorite books so here are some of the best names I've come across.

1. Throne of Glass - Sarah J Maas
Celaena - love this name even though I pondered over how to pronounce it for the longest time!
2. Grave Mercy - Robin LaFevers
Ismae - I've always loved the name Esme but Twilight ruined it for me. This is close but still different enough.
3. Dead Witch Walking - Kim Harrison
Kisten - from the Hollows novels, Kisten was my favorite character and the name is unforgettable.
4. Coraline - Neil Gaiman
Coraline - no reason except that I love the name.
5. Poison Study - Maria V Snyder
Yelena - another name that's familiar but different.
6. The Body Finder - Kimberly Derting
Violet - I had a best friend when I was little called Violet and I have always loved the name.
7. A Game of Thrones - George R R Martin
Cersei & Daenerys - cheating a bit here by listing two from the same series but I could have listed a lot more, GRRM has a knack of picking great names.
8. Lovely, Dark & Deep - Amy McNamara
Wren - probably my favorite name, one of my friends actually called her daughter Wren!
9. Unearthly - Cynthia Hand
Clara - my sister's name :)
10. Daughter of Smoke & Bone - Laini Taylor
Karou - completely unusual but absolutely perfect for the character
