I was initially drawn to this because of the striking US cover and then I saw this oh so pretty UK cover. Then I read the author's description of her inspiration - neolithic monuments, land stewardship, royal hostages, and poisonous fungi. Sold! I'm ignoring the bit that says 'for fans of...' because that way lies disappointment!

This sounds amazing, a witch with eyes & mouth sewn shut and high tech surveillance! I was completely hooked after seeing the fantastic cover reveal last week and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. This would be perfect to read over Halloween, curled up with a blanket, hot chocolate and listening to the rain falling outside. I'll definitely be buying this a.s.a.p.!

This could be a big one... I haven't done a book haul post for a month and as it's the festive season I've gone a bit mad both buying and requesting, never mind the enormous library haul(which I'm going to leave for next week)! At Christmas, for every book I buy someone I seem to be buying one for myself so that's working out quite well so far. I've bought myself a tote bag that I've been drooling over for a while and a special edition of The Miniaturist by Jessi Burton! Garden Spells is a re-buy, I want to read it again before I start First Frost but can't find my original copy.

This week has been a great week! Lots of new books but I only bought three! I'm so proud of myself :) It was library week and blog tour week and review copy week all rolled into one so still a few books in but I only bought three... I'll keep repeating that as I can't believe it! Don't fall over but I think this might be one of my smallest book hauls ever... I'm not sure what happened - I somehow managed to buy only one physical copy of a book this week, not bad but as I actually already own a copy but can't find it I probably shouldn't have bothered! It's for a good cause though, the fabulous Mrs Markham and I are doing a buddy read/re-read of the entire Dark Tower series by Stephen King, if this interests you by the way feel free to join in - we'll mostly be chatting the series up on Twitter so we can annoy worship maybe get a retweet from the man himself! The others were pre-orders (one of which I'd completely forgotten I'd paid for months ago) and a Kindle bargain after my sister said I had to read it! Probably just as well because I did treat myself to something else un-bookish (sort of) :)
