Book Haul #118, Or I Never Realized How Much I Used My Kindle Fire...

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews where we can share what new books we've picked up this past week be they bought, borrowed or downloaded. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

I still don't have my new Kindle Fire... I can see it in my orders on Amazon, it's just sitting there saying 'not yet dispatched' and 'expected delivery by January 12 to January 18'. It's now January 16 so unless a miracle happens, on a Sunday too, it won't be here by the 18th. Not having it is such a pain though as I have discovered I used it for just about everything whenever I was away from home. There's no quick blog posting, no game playing, no watching a movie on the train, nothing. Maybe next weekend I'll have something to show!

I was feeling very pleased with myself last weekend when I was doing my book haul post and thinking well done you for only buying two books up to the end of 2015. And then the last of my medicated haze ordering turned up from Book Depository... Ooops? It was only another two books so I don't think four is too high a number really. I'm doing well on the no book buying front though. I have bought nothing at all in 2016 and I've requested one title on Netgalley this week!

I already own 3 different copies of The Bloody Chamber but I couldn't resist this Penguin Deluxe version with an introduction by Kelly Link. I definitely need to reread this book soon!

My Neighbor Totoro is one of my favorite Miyazaki movies and I've wanted to get this for a while.

Huge thanks to Titan for sending me a copy of Charlie Jane Anders's debut novel. I've been waiting to read this for a long time and I featured it as a WoW pick in April last year!

I actually got this last week but completely forgot that I'd been approved for it. This was another WoW pick in 2015.

Book Haul #106, Or The One Where I Burnt My Foot...

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews where we can share what new books we've picked up this past week be they bought, borrowed or downloaded. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

I'm a day behind this week thanks to the saga of the foot! It started with a blister and ended with a two inch burn caused by antiseptic cream... Turns out I've developed an allergy to Germolene antiseptic cream so instead of helping the blister I got (after wearing old shoes!) I now have a hideously huge burn and can't wear anything on my feet for at least another four days. And the pain is unbelievable!

Obviously I need to cheer myself up so I did indeed go book buying mad. Well, a little bit mad! I decided to treat myself to a few of the new Penguin 80th Little Black Classics (if you could say ten is a few) and I bought two of the UK World Book Day books that I wanted.

Bought

Skin Game
Goth Girl & the Pirate Queen | Killing the Dead

The Tinder Box - Hans Christian Andersen
The Gate of the Hundred Sorrows - Rudyard Kipling
The Tell-Tale Heart - Edgar Allan Poe

The Night is Darkening Around Me - Emily Bronte

Book Haul #103, Or The One Where I Fall Off The Wagon A Bit...

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews where we can share what new books we've picked up this past week be they bought, borrowed or downloaded. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

As you may have guessed from this post's title I bought books this week, not a huge amount but still more than I wanted to. I think because I had a gift card I got into the mindset I could buy anything I wanted and it didn't count... Crazy, crazy thinking but at least I was fairly restrained! Keep thinking holiday & ComicCon!!! It was my library book delivery this week too but I think I'll leave that until next week as I got a lot of books, and by a lot I mean about thirty. Yes, thirty library books...

Here's what I got for review this week and what I spent my gift card/hard earned pennies on!

Book Haul #66

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews and Letterbox Love is a UK edition hosted by Narratively Speaking. Here we can share what new books we've picked up this past week. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

Don't fall over but I think this might be one of my smallest book hauls ever... I'm not sure what happened - I somehow managed to buy only one physical copy of a book this week, not bad but as I actually already own a copy but can't find it I probably shouldn't have bothered! It's for a good cause though, the fabulous Mrs Markham and I are doing a buddy read/re-read of the entire Dark Tower series by Stephen King, if this interests you by the way feel free to join in - we'll mostly be chatting the series up on Twitter so we can annoy worship maybe get a retweet from the man himself! The others were pre-orders (one of which I'd completely forgotten I'd paid for months ago) and a Kindle bargain after my sister said I had to read it! Probably just as well because I did treat myself to something else un-bookish (sort of) :)

Bought

The Assassin's Blade - Sarah J Maas

Half Bad - Sally Green

The Gunslinger - Stephen King

Kindle Bargain

The Storyteller - Jodi Picoult

Kindle Pre-Order

Gilded - Christina Farley

Review - Netgalley

Chasing Stars - Helen Douglas
I was going to try & stay away from Netgalley/Edelweiss for a while as I'm drowning under review copies again but given how much I loved After Eden it would have been rude not to request Chasing Stars, thanks for approving me Bloomsbury!

Bought - Bookish but not a book

Game of Thrones S3 DVD
I wanted this blu-ray version but wasn't about to pay a silly amount of money for five discs, it is pretty though... Also not quite sure how it would fit on the shelf!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely people at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Nine 2014 Debuts I'm Excited For

This was harder than I thought it would be, a lot of the books I'm excited about this year are by authors previously published but I (almost) got there in the end. Here's my list of top nine books by debut authors I can't wait to read!

The Copper Promise | Banished | Stolen Songbird

Dorothy Must Die | The Strange & Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender | Hexed

Blackfin Sky | Half Bad | The Murder Complex
