'A wonderfully atmospheric collection of stories from one of our most captivating writers, inspired by ghost stories, traditional folk tales and country legends from England and France. Not much blurb to go on but this has been on my wishlist since I first read about it in the Bookseller a few months ago. Short stories based on folk tales & legends and featuring ghosties? Sign me up! I loved Labyrinth, Sepulchre and Citadel by the same author so have high hopes for this one!

What are you impatiently waiting for this week?

Top Ten Tuesday #23 - My Fall 2013 TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely people at The Broke and the Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Books On My Fall 2013 TBR List

I've gone for a mix of new books coming out that I can't wait to get my hands on and books that I will definitely be reading over the next couple of months! I need to reread The Shining before I can start Doctor Sleep, it's almost October and Halloween so definitely time for some frightening reads. The Historian is for a read-a-long, I read it about three years ago but am in the mood for it again! Libriomancer is on the list as I need something to balance the list out, plus it's about books and the sequel, Codex Born, comes out in a few weeks too. I'm pretty sure I've forgotten so many I wanted to include but these ten will do for now :)

Fearsome Dreamer

Doctor Sleep

Raising Steam

Beauty

All The Truth That's In Me

The Historian

The Shining

Nevermore

Enshadowed

Libriomancer

Reading RoundUp #31

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

My reading round-ups seem to be appearing monthly these days, you'd think this would mean more news but I'm not sure that's right! I've just spent nearly ten days away from home at my sister's where I got a pitiful amount of reading done but it was so nice to be able to spend extra time with Frem! Whilst in Reading I had a few trips up to London, I almost got to meet Sean Cummings (author of Poltergeeks & Student Bodies) but sadly didn't manage this due to time constraints and other plans. I did get to meet this author -

Patrick Ness is a genuinely nice chap, I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed his talk and can't wait to see him again in a couple of weeks at another event. At the Patrick Ness signing I also spotted another familiar face, the lovely Laure Eve, who I've been semi-stalking on Twitter and her blog. Make sure you all buy her book, Fearsome Dreamer, due out next month and featuring on next week's WoW! Tomorrow night I'm off to Bath for an event at Toppings Bookshop arranged by SFX featuring Samantha Shannon, I can't wait to hear more about how she came up with The Bone Season and to finally pick a finished copy of the book.

Anyway, back to the books!

Book Haul #42

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews and Letterbox Love is a UK edition hosted by Narratively Speaking. Here we can share what new books we've picked up this past week. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

I had an amazing time in London/Reading, the Patrick Ness event was fantastic and I got to meet the very lovely Laure Eve (author of the soon-to-be-released Fearsome Dreamer), there was cake and prosecco with blue Curacao caviar! I didn't go mad buying books, just a few most of which I had to leave at my sister's as my suitcase was full and a gorgeous new Kindle Fire cover. I also got my dress for my oldest nephew's wedding in March next year, very vintage in grey, black & white! Competing for most exciting bookish thing last week was an email saying I'd been pre-approved for Bellman & Black by Diane Setterfield so after my WoW post about it you can imagine just how excited I was. I was just about to descend into Baker Street tube station when I got that email so my subsequent squeeing was witnessed by many!

Briar Rose - Jana Oliver

Far Far Away - Tom McNeal

'A year ago Hurricane Josephine swept through Savannah, Georgia, leaving behind nothing but death and destruction — and taking the life of Dovey's best friend, Carly. Since that night, Dovey has been in a medicated haze, numb to everything around her.

But recently she's started to believe she's seeing things that can't be real ... including Carly at their favorite cafe. Determined to learn the truth, Dovey stops taking her pills. And the world that opens up to her is unlike anything she could have imagined.

As Dovey slips deeper into the shadowy corners of Savannah — where the dark and horrifying secrets lurk — she learns that the storm that destroyed her city and stole her friend was much more than a force of nature. And now the sinister beings truly responsible are out to finish what they started.

Dovey's running out of time and torn between two paths. Will she trust her childhood friend Baker, who can't see the threatening darkness but promises to never give up on Dovey and Carly? Or will she plot with the sexy stranger, Isaac, who offers all the answers — for a price? Soon Dovey realizes that the danger closing in has little to do with Carly ... and everything to do with Dovey herself.'

Oh my gosh, this sounds like the perfect book for me! Look at that gorgeous cover, read that amazing synopsis! I want this and I want it now... Sadly, I can't find a link to pre-order it anywhere *sob* The only information available is that it will be out in 2014, that's just too long!
