Once upon a time in the desert, in a tower, on a spaceship, in the Other Country...

For centuries, storytellers have crafted timeless tales that have always found a place in our hearts. Here, a new generation of critically acclaimed, award-winning writers have taken up their mantle and shaped traditional and extraordinary fairy tales into something startling and electrifying.

From castles to canyons, a post-human landscape to a pixelated dungeon, from the far future to fantastical realms, The Starlit Wood transforms eighteen stories you thought you knew and takes you on a journey at once unexpected and familiar across time, space, and amazing new worlds.

OMG... This might just turn out to be one of my top ten most anticipated books of 2016 and it's a long wait until October. Just look who the authors are!

Top Ten Nine 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn't

Oh dear. Where do I start with this list? There are so many titles that could be on my list and I feel guilty about every single one of them. Although I did start reading several of these I just never got round to finishing them...

Top Ten #91 - Books On My TBR For Summer 2015!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fabulous gals cover at The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -

Top Ten Twelve Books On My TBR For Summer 2015

As I have such an excellent track record of actually reading the books I put on these lists (Spring 2015 - read one title, Fall 2014 - read one title, and so on...) I thought it would be fun to put together my Summer TBR list if only to have a slightly hysterical laugh later over what books you can probably guarantee I won't read!

A superb murder mystery, on an epic scale, set against the fall out – literally – of a war in Heaven.

Paris has survived the Great Magicians War – just. Its streets are lined with haunted ruins, Notre-Dame is a burnt-out shell, and the Seine runs black with ashes and rubble. Yet life continues among the wreckage. The citizens continue to live, love, fight and survive in their war-torn city, and The Great Houses still vie for dominion over the once grand capital.

House Silverspires, previously the leader of those power games, lies in disarray. Its magic is ailing; its founder, Morningstar, has been missing for decades; and now something from the shadows stalks its people inside their very own walls.

Within the House, three very different people must come together: a naive but powerful Fallen, an alchemist with a self-destructive addiction, and a resentful young man wielding spells from the Far East. They may be Silverspires’ salvation. They may be the architects of its last, irreversible fall…

I've previously read Aliette de Bodard's Obsidian and Blood series and quite enjoyed it so I'm looking forward to reading The House of Shattered Wings which sounds completely different!
