Waiting On Wednesday #130 - Down With The Shine

Waiting On Wednesday, where we put the spotlight on upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating, is hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week's choice is -

Down With The Shine - Kate Karyus Quinn
ISBN - 9780062356048
Publisher - Harper Teen
Release date - April 26 2016
Find - Goodreads

There's a reason they say "be careful what you wish for." Just ask the girl who wished to be thinner and ended up smaller than Thumbelina, or the boy who asked for "balls of steel" and got them - literally. And never wish for your party to go on forever. Not unless you want your guests to be struck down by debilitating pain if they try to leave.

These are things Lennie only learns when it's too late - after she brings some of her uncles' moonshine to a party and toasts to dozens of wishes, including a big wish of her own: to bring back her best friend, Dylan, who was abducted and murdered six months ago.

Lennie didn't mean to cause so much chaos. She always thought her uncles' moonshine toast was just a tradition. And when they talked about carrying on their "important family legacy," she thought they meant good old-fashioned bootlegging.

As it turns out, they meant granting wishes. And Lennie has just granted more in one night than her uncles would grant in a year.

Now she has to find a way to undo the damage. But once granted, a wish can't be unmade..

  1. I'm totally in a Djinn and wish phase right now, so this is going onto my tbr pronto. Sounds really good! Thanks for spotlighting, even if 2016 is still so far off.

  2. This cover is just gorgeous! Also the synopsis lures me into thinking this one might be a good read. How can she undo everything when it is impossible and in what state will her friend return? It can be either a creepy, scary read or perhaps a romantic one I wonder. Oh well, we will have to wait until 2016 to find out :)

Thanks for sharing this find with us, Fi. Feel free to stop by and check out my WoW if you want to. Link in bio.

  3. This is such an awesome cover! I love blue, so this image is pure delight to my eyes! Besides, the plot is very original. I've never heard of moonshine having this kind of effect before. Lol. I think this sounds like it could be comedy of errors!

Thanks for sharing this!! Happy Reading!!

  8. This sounds like a good book! I am not entirely sure what I make of this one and probably would end up wanting to read some reviews before I added it to my TBR but it sounds like it has potential!
