Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful gals cover at
The Broke & The Bookish. This week's topic is -
Top Ten Twenty-ish Fairy Tales And Retellings
Once upon a time there was a book nerd called Fi who was
slightly crazy obsessed with fairy tales. When the topic came up as a Top Ten Tuesday idea it was obvious to all in the kingdom that she would never be able to post a list of ten(!). And so the epic list of fairy tales was born with twenty-something titles, from Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Goose Girl, Bluebeard through to Hansel & Gretel, Tam Lin, The Brave Little Tailor and many more. After reading the list everyone lived happily ever after!
Bitter Greens is on my list! I'd quite like to read A Long Long Sleep too!
ReplyDeleteBitter Greens was one of my top ten favorite books last year and I recommend Kate Forsyth to anyone/everyone constantly!
DeleteHop e you get to read it soon and thanks for stopping by :)
This is a great list! You've introduced me to quite a few books this week, I shall have to investigate!
ReplyDeleteI have plenty more recommendations should you ever need them, I think I could have done a Top 100 list!
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
Great list! I think I will certainly be searching for a few of these to read in the future! Do you have a favourite? :-D
ReplyDeleteAll of them?! For YA definitely Curse Dark As Gold and Fire & Hemlock, and for Adult fiction, Bitter Greens, The Bloody Chamber & the Sarah Pinborough trilogy!
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
I LOVE the covers to Poison, Beauty and Charm. So simple yet so good! I haven't read any of these but just added Enchanted and A Long Long Sleep on Goodreads. They both look good! Thanks for sharing, happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy them!
DeleteThanks for stopping by :)
Fantastic list!!! Fire and Hemlock is one of my very favorite books so it was wonderful to see it here :) Here is my TTT: http://www.bookworminkorporated.com/best-current-and-anticipated-fairy-tale-retellings/
ReplyDeleteIt's one of mine too! Love Tam Lin stories so it was always going to end up on my list :)
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
*takes notes* I love retellings, this looks like a great list!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of retellings, as if that wasn't obvious!
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the list :)
I am glad I am not the only one who couldn't stop at just ten. This is a great list. :-) We have a few crossovers: Bitter Greens, Thorn and Uprooted.
ReplyDeleteA few others you mention I am not familiar with, but want to be.
Your list is great! I too could have done way more than ten books!

Hi. :) I understand how you feel. I don't even know how I was able to narrow down my list to only ten fairy-tale retellings. I adore every retelling written by Juliet Marillier - but my favourite must be Heart's Blood.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your list. There are a few books I'll have to take a look at. Happy readings! :)
The Egg and Spoon has been on my TBR for a while but i never knew that it was a retelling. I do enjoy this kind of list to learn more about the books.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have no book on our lists that is also on mine, so that makes it very easy to have a new list of books i want to look into. :)
Fantastic list :)
Egg & Spoon is retellings of Russian fairy tales and absolutely wonderful although I love most of Maguire's books so I might be biased!
DeleteI actually BOUGHT poison because I was afraid I couldn't get that cover! Great list! I also wanted to leave a note that Deerskin is linked to A Long Long sleep.
ReplyDeleteThat's what happens when you write blog posts at 3am because you can't sleep! Have you seen the new US covers for Poison etc. by Titan? I want to get those now too...
