Book Haul #37

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly event hosted on Tynga's Reviews and Letterbox Love is a UK edition hosted by Narratively Speaking. Here we can share what new books we've picked up this past week. There are also lots of other 'book haul' memes out there for you to choose from!

What a difference a week makes! I'm actually sticking to my guidelines (well, 99% of them) and I haven't spent anything on books *polishes halo* This was my first whole week of Operation TBR in place and I think I did pretty well. The only thing that was in my favor though? I haven't been anywhere near any bookshops and I've been trying to stay off the internet as much as possible, easy to do just now as it's so awkward trying to type with my left hand... Next week though I'm off to Temptation City, otherwise known as London and to my sister's so need to stay strong! Here's what new this week...

Kindle Freebie

Forest of the Forsaken - Joanne Brothwell
I bought this because, as you all know, I'm a bit of a fairy tale nut. It's an adult retelling of Hansel & Gretel and has been on my wishlist for a while, it was free and I deserved a reward for not buying anything!

Won

The Crimson Shield - Nathan Hawke
I won this on Twitter, I rarely do things like retweet to win but Nathan Hawke is a.k.a. Stephen Deas, author of the fabulous Memory of Flames series that starts with The Adamantine Palace.

From the publisher

Blue Earth Remembered - Alastair Reynolds
This was offered up by Gollancz Geeks and I took a chance on asking for a copy as it's been a while since I read anything by Reynolds. I've read the first two Revelation Space books and liked them so hopefully I'll like this new series too. The next book, On The Steel Breeze, comes out at the end of next month.

What was in your mailbox this week?
